Jenny’s birthday went very well. Jim sent her 26 roses that Nicole ordered for Jim. We took her out for dinner with three of her friends and her Aunt Sue.

Jim has had pretty good days yesterday and today. He did not sleep well thru the night and continues to sleep some during the day. He is doing pretty good being with out the nurse all the time. Yesterday Jim struggled with choking/gagging. He does not make noise but it looks bad. They do not know why.

Yesterday the started to wean him from the vent. The have told him the machine has a back up so if he does not take a breath in 20 seconds it will do it for him. The machine is not shut off totally so it help him slightly. Yesterday he did it twice. Once in the morning for 40 min. and last night for almost 1 hour. Today now he did it for almost an hour this morning and tonight now he wanted to wait till jenny was back at 8 30 so she was around if something went wrong.

Jim remains in pain, mostly in the back and they think it is from laying flat so much.

Today they sat Jim up on the edge of the bed. He could not do anything they had to hold him but the best thing is him blood pressure changed some but not significant. The staff was thrilled with the blood pressure.

His heart rate is looking better as I said his blood pressure is also looking good.

His blood count the last three days has been Monday 10.3 Tuesday 10.4 today it was 10.5. No word from the doctor but my guess is the procrit they gave him is working. In the past he would have gotten blood on Tuesday. Lets pray this continues to get better.

Another blessing is his lungs. The doctor has told him the x ray shows his lungs to be clear.

Jim’s strength remains unchanged. He continues to feel nauseated the last 4 days. They do know why, they have given him some Zolfram (I remember this drug) to help.

Another good day in intermediate care ICU is still better than a very good day in Intensive Care ICU. Thank you God, you are Great.

John
