Sorry everyone that you have not been kept up to date after getting the blessed update for Jim Friday night.

Today’s update does not bring exciting news like it did on Friday evening.

Yesterday Jim did not change much at all from Friday. He might be moving his fingers a little more along with his feet. He was allowed to have ice and was allowed more and more of it as the day went along.

Biggest part of the day was when they pretty much turn off the vent without removing the tube to see how Jim is doing. That lasted 15 minutes. Jim did well and was very tired afterward. He said he could tell that the machine was not working. I am sure we all were more excited for Jim than Jim was for himself. He had to work hard. All this is normal and weaning off the vent is not an easy job.

Friday night Jim kept his Dad working. Jim has his nights and days mixed up and he did not sleep at all until the nurse gave him something to relax at 4 am

Jim had plenty of visitors yesterday.

Today brings about the same news. Jim’s dad said he slept a bit more than the night before. When he did it was a restless sleep.

The doctor was in mid morning and is pleased with his progress. Says his quads are active.

Jim’s Fingers are stronger to me along with his Right index can move left and right about ½ inch. For those who are wondering how much Jim is moving them, well he barely is moving them and unless you have the weight of his fingers on your hand you might not see them move. His right foot seems stronger today, that too is moving left and right a bit. The left foot was in brace but it was moving.

Doctor told Jim he wanted to do another weaning of the vent today but Jim said No for what ever reason. Well both dad’s got there after the doctors were in and both at the same time told Jim he needed to allow them to do what they wanted as it will help. Jim changed his mind and had the nurse call and he did the weaning of the vent again. Today they use it as a base line on where to begin. Jim did well but became anxious and wanted to stop it after 8 min. By the time the tech. came back it was 14 but the tech. was happy for that amount. Jim was very tired. We think he became scared and asked for it back on. I can not imagine how tuff this is.

Oh ya Jim had a sore back so they gave him some pain med’s this mid afternoon. Tomorrow they will take out the CVC line in his upper leg. The CVC line was used for the blood treatment. They stopped the treatment after yesterdays as they have found it does not help after he starts recovery. By having the line out they will be able to set him up straighter and this will help with the sore back.

Jim either was very tired today, or tired from all the traffic from visitors or just plain down. Probably the best way to put it was all the above. When Sherry and I said our good byes till tomorrow the Bears were loosing and he was not happy and seemed down. But Sherry got her smile from Jim without asking tonight. She was excited about that.

Please continue your prayers for Jenny and Jim. Jim needs added help now with keeping a positive attitude.

Jenny is tired there is no doubt. Sister’s Nicole and Charlie are sharing the night and will stay with Jim tonight. Mike has stayed the last two and I know it has gotten the best of him.

Mike, Mookie and Charlie are headed home tomorrow to Tenn. They will be back late Friday for the weekend.

Special thanks to Sue and Shirley for the cleaning of Jenny and Jim’s house. Thanks to Sue for the wonderful dinner Friday night.

May God bless all and may God give Jim more strength to get thru his day either minute by minute or hour by hour.

John
