Yesterday Sherry and I spent the afternoon with Jim. It was different as there was not much traffic from visitors.

His fingers are moving better esp. the three power fingers for gripping. His feet remain about the same. He has slight movement in his wrist which is new and also very slight in his elbow area on the inside.

The hard news to take today and the first added bad news in several days is that his body is not making red blood cells. They took a lot of blood to do some tests, not sure when the results will be in. They were going to give him two units sometime after we left. Red blood cells only last 36 hours and then start to die off, that is why he does better after blood.

Treatment is to give him a drug that helps motivate the making of red blood cells. Sorry I do not have that name of drug. The nurse has seen this drug work and is happy with it’s performance.  If this drug does not work then they will have to do a bone marrow transplant. The nurse has told Jim all this and he understands.

We were there from 1 30 till 5 30 and did not get to talk to Jim. He was very tired and slept a lot. Some of that from med’s and some on his own. It is good for Jim to rest it helps the healing. Jim continues to be very anxious and has a hard time resting.

Lets hope for better days to come.

John
