Good morning!
Jim’s progress yesterday showed the same as the weather out side. The day started with snow of a couple inches and then some sun in the afternoon. Well Jim woke up to an upset stomach thru the night and it continued into the morning slightly and by the start of the afternoon he was not doing well. They change his med and by early evening he was doing better and was sitting up in bed eating dinner. Then just before he went to sleep it was not good again. For those that visited in the afternoon that was the worst and it was like night and day in the evening.
In the over all area Jim continues to do better. He now does not have the oxygen. He has been on his own for a couple days. The doctor was there in the afternoon and thought a lot of the shaking might be from one of the meds he is taking. Not sure what they did with that. Jim’s heart rate and blood pressure remain up and down somewhat. The continue to monitor that with a wireless equipment that drove Jim nuts the night before because they thought the battery was bad and they kept checking on it.
Jim had been getting up into the wheel chair daily until yesterday. Friday they even tried to stand him on his own for ten seconds. They even put his shoes on him. We have seen him now with socks for two days, that would be over a month without socks. His arm movement remains the same, when he tries to move himself in bed now he uses his arms much more that he did or could. Jim’s legs continue to get stronger little by little each day. Yesterday we watched him pull his legs up while laying in bed with out the help from anyone. He proceeded to work hard just to roll himself on his side. This was an accomplishment but soon after he got sick. Jim’s back side bottom is sore just from laying in bed, Hopefully that will get better with being on his side more.
The doctors and nurses are happy with his progress. He has a long way too go.
Jim has been eating some each day. It is so good to see that. Lets hope it stays down today and not like yesterday.
The best part remains that he can talk and visit with others. It was so neat the other day when I was back in Champaign and I could call Jim and ask him a couple simple questions for him about the computer problems I was having and be able to talk with him for ten minutes about how to solve. Once of those priceless moments.
If Jim is looking better and is up to it I hope to convince him to let me take a picture of him for all of you who can not be here to see. He has a wonderful corner private room over looking the city. If it wasn’t for the blinds between the glass not working it would be even better.
Those prayers that are being said are working and working in the biggest way. God has blessed all of you. Keep them coming.
Jim’s Dad, step mother Mookie and sister Charlie have planned to stay in Tenn. Next weekend. That is great for them as they need a break, been a long long last month and half traveling every Friday night for 8 hours and then again back home on Sunday morning. Lets pray for more safety for those in travel and that Jim continues in the recovery direction.
John
