From our visit with Jim and Jenny this past Thursday late afternoon and early evening visit.
Jim had a tough time the first couple days home. With a visit to the Doctor on last Friday they gave him some meds that helped get rid of the nausea. Finally Monday he was doing much better. He visited the Physical Therapist several times this week along with the Occupational Therapist. Jim continues to advance slowly in his endurance and strength.
On Thursday he had his feeding tube removed. With a quick tug and a short yelp along with a piece of tape Jim was out the door with freedom from tubes. Friday was a clean up day for Jim and Sir Barkley. Both of them had there hair cut. That was all in preparation for the visit from Mike, Mookie and Sister Charlie. They are in town for the week, what a relief for them not having to visit the hospital.
So I don’t go into a long update Jim while in the house and just moving about he pretty much looks and moves like the rest of us. His endurance for going thru a store like Target is still not back so he rides the wheel chair to do things like that. He has very little strength to lift heavy objects. 10 lbs is a struggle if he has to move it more than a couple times. Getting down on the floor to play with Sir Barkley is ok but the getting back to his feet is a struggle. All in all if you saw him at home in his family room he would appear normal and you would not know he had a problem the last couple months. His trake is still filling in and healing and shows most of time.
Jim will see the Doc. In a couple weeks with hope he can be released to go back to work. He already is doing some work from home daily in short intervals. Work has told him to get released and come back to work and work when he feels good and go home when he doesn’t that way he can continue getting his pay.
Jim and Jenny have been blessed with Jim’s employer Bradley University. They have a policy to continue to pay their salary in full for the first three months and then 60% for the next 3 months. It will be some time before they know what their insurance will not cover.
It was fun to bring you continued good news.
John
Attached are pictures, one of Jenny and Jim in front of their house, one of them at the restaurant we took them out to Thursday night, and one with Tazz, I let him use mine from ten years ago, Tazz would scream for us when we were not happy or down.
